- Hello. I can tell you that I am very impressed with the Cannon BJC-610. And
- it does work very well with Final Writer 4. Let me see if I can help with some
- of the points I came across in the thread: The printer does print 720x720 dpi
- in both b/w and color, BUT the printer must be connected to an MS-DOS machine
- running Windows before it will go into 720x720 mode. That really sucks because
- I bought the thing because of its hi-res mode and separate color cartridges (a
- real must). Until somebody writes a driver that will turn on 720x720 mode you
- have to live with 360x360, which is still very nice on a Cannon with a 64
- nozzel head. I am using a BJC-600 driver with very much success, and I also
- use Cannon Studio. There is no streaking, skipping, smearing, etc. It has a
- print speed of 300 cps draft and 205 cps HQ. It runs very quiet and seems to
- be of high quality. I was not impressed with the Stylus from Epson. I paid
- U.S. $500 at Circuit City. The printer comes with a print head, one set of ink
- cartridges (all four colors, the black being a double-quantity size), a CD-ROM
- with several graphics programs (MS-DOS), good manual, 100 sheet feeder, and the
- Microsoft Windows Printing System software for printing at 720x720. I am
- thinking of creating a 20meg MS-DOS partition on my hard drive and installing
- that software on it, along with Windows 3.1, to run with my PC-Task software.
- But I still want to wait for someone (please!) to write a driver for this
- feature. Any other questions feel free to e-mail me because I rarely visit
- this newsgroup.
